I noticed this lovely lavender iris when I was weeding my garden one nice summer day.  The way the light was captured by it's soft, ethereal petals immediately grabbed my attention and held me spellbound.

I had fun painting the many watercolor transparent layers needed to achieve the luminosity and depth of color present on this watercolor.
